Riad Sahir

Riad Al Sahir is a small private Riad in the heart of the Marrakech medina in Azbest a historic and vibrant residential quarter located in the northern area of the Marrakech Medina. The area is known for its traditional architecture and proximity to major historic sites and markets. The Riad is very close to the Marrakech Museum, and The Madrasa Ben Youssef and is easy walking distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa in about 10 minutes.  The building dates back five hundred years and has been carefully restored by local artisans using traditional materials and techniques to create a delightful historic interior.

The house has exceptional features and contains a wonderful collection of Orientalist decorative art, paintings, sculpture, furniture, textiles and metal work that provide a fascinating insight into traditional Riad life. Moroccan culture celebrates beauty and this house displays skill, historic artistry and craftsmanship. There are three salons, beautiful zellige tiled walls, bijmat floors, a marble Hammam, a zellige plunge pool on the roof and a sunbathing terrace and rooftop dining. Here, historic accuracy is combined with modern luxury creating a stylish and comfortable environment.

The Riad is located in a cul-de-sac so even though it is in the middle of all the medina action, just by the souks and the spice market, it functions as a delightful peaceful haven where you can hear the birdsong and are protected from any passing traffic or noise.

The Riad has four elegant, small ensuite bedrooms, fully airconditioned and with king size beds, fine linen, wardrobe space and stained glass windows. The bathrooms are beautifully tiled in traditional zellige and have power showers and spa treatments.

There are four large seating areas, a ground floor formal salon filled with art with a wood burning fireplace and a large flat screen television, a first floor sitting room on the ‘coursive’ with historic furniture, a second salon with a wood burning fireplace, that can also be used as a space for spa and massage treatments and a roof top dining room under a pergola with a small summer kitchen attached.
